Graduation!

It's that time of year again: high school graduation! While I graduated from high school in December here in Cape Town, South Africa, I'm seeing all the graduation photos from my American friends and thought I would dedicate my first post to a grad outfit. Now a graduation look has to be both trendy and classy. You can't go showing a lot of bare skin or have sky high platforms, but you don't want to look like a granny either. A popular choice for girls is a cute and flattering white dress. Some opt for pastels, but you will rarely see any dark colours on girls at a graduation ceremony. Plus the white will show off your new and fabulous summer tan!

For my graduation look, I wore this beautiful white skater dress from Tally Weijl that I bought in Munich, Germany. It's such a versatile dress and is the perfect in between formal and casual dress. An interesting texture to the fabric of the dress makes it less plain and more classy. I paired it with a small Coach Poppy wristlet, just the right size to hold my phone and some emergency eyeliner. For jewellery, I wore a pearl necklace on silver chain to bring in a bit of elegance, and a simple Juicy Couture silver chain bracelet. The silver in the necklace, bracelet, and clutch all complement each other, tying the look together. For shoes, I slipped on these embellished white sandals that I got while in Spain. They're cute, summery, and just formal enough. Some girls wear heels, but knowing me, I would probably trip across the stage, so flats were a better option. If you do wear heels, make sure they are either low sandals or wedges. You will be doing a lot of waiting around, and stilettos would not be very kind to your feet!

I kept my makeup very natural, with a hint of a red lip for a pop of colour in this generally white outfit. It also matches with the spots of red in my Coach wristlet. Don't go too heavy on the makeup with dramatic eyeshadow or extreme lip colour, remember that it's a school ceremony and not a night out on the town.
