Neutrals in New York

So I finally got around to blogging last weekend's trip to New York City! I haven't been to the city in almost 3 years and was pleased to find that it hasn't lost any of its glamour or magic to me. New York is one of the fashion capitals of the world, and I must admit, I splurged a little along 5th Avenue. Everyone in New York looks effortlessly fashionable, but in a completely understated way. I decided to go for the basics in neutral colours to try to blend in with the locals (taking pictures in Times Square didn't help).
My favourite part of this outfit is absolutely the camel suede skort. Not only is it super soft and comfy, I also just love skorts. It's the perfect autumn piece for both its colour and texture. I paired it with a simple, long sleeved grey crop top that basically goes with everything, and my knee-high brown riding boots because fall.

Paisley Daze

I love this time of year. The weather is just perfect- cool enough so you're not sweaty constantly and warm enough that you don't have to put on 3 sweaters, long underwear, 2 scarves, and a down coat to go outside. Before the cold really set in, I wanted to break out the bright colours and cute prints one more time. I just bought this dress from PacSun's Kendall & Kylie collection. The material is lightweight, and the cut is extremely flattering. It accentuates the waist without being a skater skirt style, but is still loose and comfortable. What really sold me on this dress though was the back. If you know me, you know I love an open back, they're so fun and flirty. The high neckline is also unique and boho. To keep the outfit more fall appropriate, I paired the dress with a loose grey knit cardigan from Abercrombie & Fitch, and a pair of heeled booties from Primark.

The Inbetweeners

It's the time of year again where you don't know whether to wear a heavy jacket or a pair of shorts. While the weather can be frustrating, this means that you can use both your winter and summer wardrobe at the same time. That new cute cardigan?? Layer it over your favourite summer top you don't want to say goodbye to just yet.
In this outfit, I play off cooler colours for the fall with my olive top and black boots, but still keep it light with my wrap mini skirt and the sheer, flowy material of the blouse. If you know me, you'll know that I love open or low back clothes, which also made this top perfect. The skirt is a nice balance of being a summer length but a sturdier more fall-like material and print. To keep my legs from being too bare, I picked a pair of black over-the-knee riding boots because it's fall and I'm typical.
